UGG BOOTS AND A MINI SKIRT: Fashion style or Fashion No-No

March 17th, 2009 by Stephanie Matsumoto

My friend Jen requested this post and weighed in on the debate. Tell me whether you think UGG Boots should be worn outside with a mini.    ugg-7.jpg

Without a doubt, UGG Boots look adorable by themselves or if worn inside the house on a cold, frosty day. They’re cuddly looking and warm and are made of luxurious sheepskin. Originally started by a young Australian surfer and used on the beaches in Australia, it has grown to be adorned by women in every type of fashion: casual jeans, dresses, and minis as well as beyond the beach and to the urban city! The boots are casual, yet bulky; wide, but warm. Most of all, it appears to discriminate to suit only the long, shapely leg as anything on the short and stocky frame should immediately cast it into the fashion no-no pile. However, (according to Jen) the most offensive look is UGG Boots worn with a mini! I have to also agree that it does absolutely nothing for a mini or the female. It robs the female of being her best as she has a big, wide, bulky boot to accessorize her legs. Weigh in and tell me what you think. Does it become a fashion no-no or can someone pull it off?

  1. Pam Chambers:

I HATE that look, especially when worn with a sleeveless top and a messy long scarf twisted around the neck. I think that when tiny young women assemble this look, they are trying to look even tinier and doll-like. The delicate, sometimes sheer clothes, mixed with those clunky boots causes me to look away, I dislike it that much.

Thanks Pam! Coming from a style mogul herself, I appreciate the comment. I have received much feedback about this post and the consensus weighs toward fashion no-no. It is difficult to pull off- fashion wise. For its functionality, it is a no brainer.
